After Falco's f-throw be aware of jumping into his laser. You could instead... -Side b -Shinestall
When Falco is cornered don't be afraid of laser instant dair. Beat it with shield. -Falco's counterplay to shielding is to do a low dair (delayed dair) -Because of said counterplay there leaves a lot of pressure opportunities for Fox -Don't give up stage
In positions where both players are far it is much safer to fullhop to take space. -Try to land in front of falco as this forces him to respond by backing up and shooting a laser -Him having to shoot the laser keeps Falco in the corner -Falco in the corner leads to the pressure situation mentioned above -Double Jump to top plat and waveland off is also a solid option -Must be covered similarly to the method above -"This all works because Falco doesn't have a good dashdance stalemate against Fox"
"Don't look for an opening, look for THE opening" -"You want to look for an opening that gives really good pressure or a combo on Falco"
When Falco's at 0% "It's very easy for something to go slightly wrong and get cc'd so you want to get a little bit of damage" -This can be done with drills / lasers
Falco's uptilt is strong but it doesn't force anything.
"You have to make it so your opponent doesn't know what set of mixups to expect and if you can bait them into expecting lets say short hop nair off of the platform mixup then you can potentially open up other avenues where you can gain more of an advantage such as the dashdance grab, fullhop drill grab, moving around on platforms and dropping down with upair." -"It feels like you made a machine in your brain that can play this matchup but that sort of can be blinding to what's outside of the machine." -Ambi was playing on mixups him and his opponent "agreed on" meaning they both knew the situation would arise -Because both players knew when a mixup was coming they'd both win the mixup half the time.
On game start play centered. If not centered then play around top plat.
Constantly be looking for advantageous positions -Don't wait for Falco to come to an even playing field. Take initiative.
When Falco's on top plat don't try to read what option he comes down with. -"Falco has the options here. He doesn't need to down air so there's no reason to guess that he's just going to downair when he could laser and punish here. You don't want to interact here because you don't have an advantage. You're 50/50ing the downair and the laser when you don't need to."
Falco can't really interact with Fox's fullhop until he's coming down with it. -This can create uninteractable spaces. -For example when you fullhop if they come in with a down air you punish and if they don't you're in a completely valid neutral position. -Through fullhops you can continue to apply passive pressure in hard to hit spots -"Play the zone correctly in a way where you're saying look i'm not really interacting i'm just looking for a good position."
"Dashback dash in is really really good against every other character except Falco. Against Falco you always want to start with a dash in." -When you dash in on Falco you force him to protect himself from your approach. -"If you dashback here as your first movement you give up everything" -If he dairs in place you're too late to get to him -If he approaching dairs you're running back in to the dair -If he does a laser assuming you're dashing back then you run right into the laser -You should dash in and either shorthop or fullhop. -Could also dash in dash back uptilt
"Before you fight find a good position to fight in." -"Neutral game is less about trying to do a mixup a mixup and hit your opponent and more to confuse your opponent about your intentions" -"It's basically like you're setting up this obvious checkmate in 4 moves. Your opponent is going to make moves to stop this attack. You can tell them that this is your attack and force them to prepare for your attack but your actually plotting something different. If you go for the thing you told them you were plotting most of the time they'll be prepared to defend it if they're good enough."
"Make Falco do something to adapt to what you're doing and then play around a different situation."
"Always commit as late as possible to anything"
